With a new year there comes new events and new ideas, Onelook Studio is hitting the ground running this February as we prepare for a year that is absolutely stacked with social nights, workshops and specials. But we’re not leaving behind the good stuff. Game’s Night, a fan favorite, is coming back!
Are you feeling like socializing but get overwhelmed in big crowds? Maybe you want to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. Or, perhaps you’re someone who’s into board games and has a bit of a competitive streak, we think you and your friends will enjoy our games night.
Regardless, whether you’re just interested, a hobbyist or the kind of person who knows what a Proficiency Bonus is, Games Night is definitely for you. So what’s it all about?

So What is Games Night?

Games Night, for the uninitiated, is a night where everyone gathers together to play board games provided by the staff here at Onelook Studio. After buying a ticket, you can enjoy the air conditioned room, drinks and the company of your friends or strangers if you’re feeling especially sociable that night. We don’t have a no-cell-phones rule or any other restrictions aside from respecting your fellow players.
Games Night is more than just “board games” its an opportunity to connect with friends and meet fellow gaming enthusiasts. We know more than anyone how difficult and overwhelming it can be to plan and host a get together with loved ones. instead of putting all the pressure on yourself to organise everything games night is a great alternative for catching with friends in a comfortable and relaxing environment with a central location. All you need to do is pay for a ticket, lock in the date on your calendar then show up and enjoy the good vibes and laughter.
Drinks and water are provided by default and our players can bring snacks if they wish. All 20+ games are available for your enjoyment, but we also set aside a different game space for those specifically interested in the most popular table top role playing game coming out in recent years. Dungeons and Dragons.

The great thing about board games and table top games is that, unlike online gaming, you have way more freedom. In video games, you’re stuck in the path the game wants you to go. Even video games designed to be open are more restrictive than the average D&D game. In dungeons and dragons (D&D), your only limitation is your imagination.
You want a challenging game of dice, chance, probability and strategy? D&D can do that. You want to tell funny, emotional or terrifying stories, D&D can do that. You want to run a sandbox style adventure ala open world games? D&D can do that. Murder mystery? D&D can do that. Boss rush game? D&D can do that. Want to mess around and make jokes? D&D can do that.

And if you enjoyed D&D, you might be happy to know there’s an entire industry of games that tackle different genres from cyberpunk to daring heists to superheroes to horror. Dungeons and Dragons and its fellow Tabletops deserve their own writeup so we won’t go into detail, but we do offer it as a gaming experience to anyone who wants to try it.
Some of the board games we have available include:
- Guess Who?
- Connect 4
- Exploding Kittens
- UNO
- Old Maid
- Scattergories
- Qwirkle Rummy
- Settlers of Catan
- Cluedo
- Land of Clans
- Taboo
- Sequence
- Monopoly (Game of Thrones and NZ version)
- Scrabble
- Risk (Game of Thrones version)
- Dirty Minds
As you can see, we offer a pretty big selection, likely with more to come as we host more events like these and more board games become available. If any of these games seem interesting to you, great! We already have a full schedule of games nights ready to go! We look forward to hosting you.
